OMG! I am going through all of my writings from oh so long ago. I found a short essay I did back in high school…written in pencil and fading as I type this. I am only making minor grammatical corrections, wish I
could remember what grade I got for this.
Thesis: The odor produced by the feet in most cases is not a product of improper hygiene.
For many years, people believed the odor which is projected from the feet, was produced from a form of improper hygiene. Otherwise known as “stinky feet“. I for one do believe that the odor produced is one of
unscrupulous caliber, one, when is released with enough force could undoubtedly take care of the population problem. It would most certainly be a quick “clean” death. However, Mother Nature would not allow
this type of destruction to occur; she has superbly invented destructions of her own kind. Now, I must not allow myself to wonder off the track. However, words cannot express the untold agony, the depths of
despair and the finer things in life but the bitter end is last. The odor produced by the feet in most cases is not a product of improper hygiene.
It is true though, if I were feet I would unquestionably find a way to rebel against the intolerable imprisonment; otherwise known as shoes. This odor that is spoken so harshly against, is only a form of rebellion. It is
unfair to cramp a portion of the human body into an airtight compartment darker than the ace of spades and usually so tight that not even the little toe can get sufficient exercise. Since man began his journey
through time, his feet were always allowed to run free, through the tall willowy grasses, in the open air and sunshine, through the cool refreshing waters. Then man and his advancing mind discovered a covering for
the foot that would protect it from stones and excessive heat and cold. Unfortunately, modern man lost sight of the original purpose of footwear. Fashion now dictates the type of home in which we must imprison
our feet.
The odor which we associate with our feet is purely not a sign of improper hygiene but merely a sign of rebellion. We should not take advantage of our feet, look at what they have done for us. Permitted us to
walk and run and I feel that human beings would look rather strange walking on their ankles. Therefore, I think that it is only fair that our feet inform us that they have been confined in cumbersome shoes long
enough and yearn for the freedom which their forefather’s feet once knew. An odor is the lesser of many evils.
